10 foods to super charge your brain

1. Avocados

This is a great “healthy” fat that will keep your brain going and energized throughout the day

2. Blueberries

These are one of my favorite fruits, chocked full of antioxidants, high in fiber and low on the glycemic index they will not spike your blood sugar level.  Be sure to buy organic and local if you can.

3. Nuts

Nuts are another one of those healthy “fats” that provide an immediate energy boost to your system.  They are also a great source of protein that will sustain you over time.

4. Dark Chocolate (over 70% cacao)

Yes, you can indulge.  Dark chocolate is full of antioxidants and has just the right amount of caffeine.  It also boost your serotonin levels so you will feel happy right after eating it.

5. Olive Oil

Gone are the days of the low fat eating plans.  In fact, if your brain doesn’t get enough fat it can increase foggy thinking, mood swings and insomnia.  Put some olive oil on your salads, and use it abundantly.

6. Garlic

Fresh garlic is a immune booster, and will reduce your bad cholesterol, while strengthening your immune system.

7. Green leafy vegetables

Spinach, kale, chard, arugula- which ever green you prefer.  Greens are high in iron, which helps keep your thinking sharp and combats fatigue.

8. Eggs

Eggs are close to the perfect protein.  They sustain you over time and help your mood.

9.Wild Salmon

Wild Salmon is high in omega-3 fatty acids which are essential for your brain.  These fats have been linked to improved memory and mood.  Choose wild Alaskan salmon, eat small portion 2-3 times per week.

10. Tuna

Tuna is also rich in omega-3 fatty acids.  Yellowfin has the highest level of vitamin B6 of any food. Studies have shown that B6 is directly linked to memory, cognition and long term brain health.

Getting all of our daily nutritional needs is difficult in the 20th century, since our food does not contain all the nutrients that it had 30 years ago.  Our soils are being depleted at a rapid rate and it is more important than ever that we use supplements to get the daily vitamins our body needs.

With how fast our world is moving today.  Stress should be one of your major concerns when it comes to maintaining your energy levels and keeping your brain in tip top shape.  Take some time today to talk with one of our practitioners about what supplements will be best for you.
